The Cardinals Offensive Woes
After the Cardinals got off to a great offensive in April in which they were in the top 5 in almost every offensive category, the Cardinals have severely slumped during the month of May and now in early June. In the month of May, they were dead last in the majors in Runs, Hits, RBI's, and On Base Percentage (OBP) and in the bottom five in pretty much every other category.
This has recently led to a lot of trade talk from from the fan base, local media, and even the manager of the team, Tony LaRussa. Several names are being tossed around such as Mark Derosa, Adrian Beltre, Garret Adkins, and Matt Holliday. These would all be welcome additions, but which do you think would be best for the team this year and in the long term? If you have someone else in mind that is realistic, give your reasoning or logic behind the decision. What other ways could the Cardinals try and jump start the offense. Different lineups? Promoting minor leaguers and demoting some of the current players? Give your thoughts.
